The project may give direction to new advances to things such as multi tasking, as it is said that by introducing their new “teaching” mode, because by doing so, we could rely on technology in more accurate and efficient way.
Technology
We have already seen implants that respond to EEG commands, but those are simpler task compared to what Dr Rao aims, as he is intended not just to control mortise functions or directions, but to be able to give tasks which will become easier, common and instant to command with just thinking it (while using EEG). One of the main problems in this project is the same human brain, as it gave different electrical impulses of different range and intensity in each person (this because each person reacts different), that´s why the “teaching” mode is crucial for the AI to comprehend and perform the task that are given by becoming “adaptive and hierarchical”.
Social / Ethical issues
The use of AI in machines has always been a subject of controversy since Hollywood movies create dystopias around them, the idea of a machine capable to learn and react to human emotions/brain signals, awakens the idea of machines capable of reasoning within the parameters of human logic (I said reasoning, not feeling) even though it’s just programming… for now.
Stakeholders
people with physical limitations are most interest in this type of technology, as it would help them to overcome the limitations of their life, but there are other uses for this new systems, such as the military, which would help them to manipulate vehicles and other devices with their mind (very sci-fi), or even average tech users, who would be able to get rid of the remotes and “start using their brains”.
